Skis

Since 1974, Ski Racquet of Davis (folded into Ken's in 1988) has been known for expert bootfitting - because we know that you'll never be happy on the slopes until your feet are happy. Many skiers & riders suffer with boots that are too big (leading to blisters, banged-up toes and worst of all, poor control over where you're going!), too small (which just plain hurts) or just the wrong shape or wrong flex for your feet and your style. But not Ken's clients - they know the bliss of being comfortable, warm and fully in control of their board/s, getting the most out of every day on the hill. Our friendly, expert fitters can get you there, too.

Below are listed just a few of the 'raw materials' we use - but let's be honest, looking online can't really help much with making a boot selection. And we have many more to choose from, than those shown below.

Come on in and let one of Ken's boot consultants measure your feet, talk with you about your riding/skiing, find a pair that works and then modify them until your boots fit like they were custom made for you, too.

Volkl Kenja 88
$529.97 $649.99 18% Off
A ski for the rad woman who loves to ski everything on the mountain with speed and precision. When it comes to the buffet of skiing, if you are a glutton that cannot decide between groomers or powder, bumps or trees, the Kenja 88 is the plate (ski) that can handle your hearty appetite. The impressive carving performance comes from the three different radii in the sidecut, aka: the 3D Radius Sidecut design. Depending on speed and edge angle, the snow connects with a different part of the ski, supporting that specific turn, managing the terrain and forces smoothly. The tip and tail rocker make any turn shape initiation more fluid, plus provide clearance when the slope becomes deep with powder (yay!) or full of crud (yay?). The Kenja 88 is also built with a Titanal frame and carbon tips that give stability without losing playfulness. The result of all of this is a ski that holds beautifully at high speeds while still remaining extremely lively. If you've got Kenja 88s on your feet, it's time to unbuckle your belt and dig into all the mountains can offer.
Dakine Ski Strap
$9.99
If you're only using your ski breaks to hold skis together while carrying and transporting them, you know they have a tendency to scissor. That motion scrapes the skis across each other, dulling edges and damaging bases. No bueno. Ski Straps are a quick and easy fix. Molded EVA pads hold bases apart to avoid scraping and rusting, and a high-quality hook-and-loop closure locks the straps securely in place. You put some serious cash into those sticks—this buy is a no-brainer. - Molded EVA pad holds bases apart to protect edges - High-quality hook-and-loop for longevity - Webbing tab for easier operation with gloves

$599.99
A ski for the rad woman who revels in agile, responsive turns all across the mountain, and might want to tackle an uphill touring effort followed by a technical backcountry descent. The Blaze 94 W is what we like to call "sporty". It delivers on many levels, but it is made for the high-octane delight of a skier that loves to turn on a dime, in every type of terrain. Keeping the titanal only under the foot creates an incredibly fun and responsive turning experience, immediately from initiation, with little effort. Although it is designed with short turn radius goals, the 3D Radius Sidecut and Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore significantly enhances the ski's liveliness and maneuverability for any turn shape. At only 1427g (@ 165cm length) and with the addition of the Suspension Tip and Tail (basically a rubbery "bumper" for whatever the ski comes in contact with), it is a fantastic touring ski as well. Volkl Kendo 88
$699.99
Whatever your style of descent – piste or terrain – the Kendo can do it. This is an all-mountain freerider with a state-of-the-art build that can be used for so many different things by experienced skiers who relish powerful turns on any terrain and on any piste. Like the new Mantra and Kenja, the Kendo 88 comes with revised geometry and a one-meter shorter center radius in its 3D Radius Sidecut. The key is that the three different radii combined in one ski make for enormously versatile cornering. The new 16 m radius in the middle further increases its radius variability. Thrills await if you love tight turns cut fully on the edge. This ski encourages a sporty, intuitive style on groomed slopes, but also provides the manoeuvrability you need to get through challenging terrain. Less force is required too, thanks to a shorter centre radius. This season, the Kendo 88 also features Tailored Carbon Tips and a Tailored Titanal Frame. So if it wasn't clear already, there can now be no doubt that fun is the Kendo's middle name. Tailored Technologies – exclusively from Völkl The Tailored Titanal Frame, which features in the Mantra, Secret, Kendo and Kenja, is an evolution of our familiar Titanal Frame. In this design, the width of the Titanal upper belt can be adapted to the length of the ski; the resulting torsional stiffness and the desired damping behaviour can be adapted to the skier. The Titanal content is reduced in shorter skis, which means shorter and lighter skiers can get the most out of their skis without excessive effort. The new Tailored Carbon Tips make the Kendo 88 extremely versatile. Carbon fibres applied by means of Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) allow our engineers to influence curve behaviour with great accuracy. The strength and alignment of the fibres define the force you need to apply and the energy that builds up where it's needed. Agile shovel reaction is a feature of special note. This means that as soon as you initiate a turn, you can steer the ski in a measured, easy manner. In other words, simply think about changing direction – and it happens. This construction also allows means less weight without any loss of stability. Also included in the new Kendo 88 with tip and tail rocker is our renowned multilayer wood core surrounded by a full sidewall and a P-Tex 2100 base. SPECIFICATIONS: - ROCKER: Tip & Tail Rocker - CORE: Multilayer Woodcore - BASE: P-Tex 2100 - RECOMMENDED BINDING: Marker Jester 90, Griffon 90 - SKIING LEVEL: Advanced, Professional
Volkl Blaze 94

Do it all in deep snow – at 94mm, this is a real master of every snow scenario. The introduction of the Mantra marked the beginning of Völkl's powerful freeriding ski line – for those who want to ride free without any restrictions but with all the control of a sporty all-mountain design. The new Blaze series adds a new dimension for intuitive freeriders who like performance but appreciate a playful, agile feel as well The Blaze 94 weighs just 1,566 g (@ 179 cm) and is a highly versatile ski for outstanding performance in almost any conditions. A 0.3 mm thick Titanal binding platform provides direct power transfer and builds pressure quickly for a fast response when switching edges. The ski's faster, more direct response is especially welcome in narrow and rough terrain – and takes less effort too. The secret largely lies in the 3D radius sidecut. The Blaze is designed primarily for short, fast turns, but its three different radii and tip-to-tail hybrid multi-layer wood core adapt to any riding style, however ambitious. Another notable feature is the suspension tip. An elasticated, rubbery material on the tip and tail acts like a bumper, especially in wind-blown and tracked conditions, making the ski more settled and providing fantastic flotation. Volkl Kendo
$529.97 $649.99 18% Off
The new Kendo with 88mm middle width shines with an impressive carving-performance due to the three different radius in the sidecut. This special geometry is 100% adjusted to the tip & tail rocker construction. On top the Kendo 88 is built with a Titanal Frame and Carbon Tips, providing more stability and dampening. At the same time the middle section of the ski becomes stronger and allows a softer setup. As a result the ski becomes extremely lively and as well as stable even at the highest speeds. Volkl Blaze 86
$379.97 $499.99 24% Off
All-mountain precision in freeriding dimensions with the light weight of a touring ski The Blaze series, which was successfully launched last year, is being expanded to include a new model with four lengths and 86mm under the boot. In addition to the proven 3D radius sidecut, the Blaze 86 is built with a full tip-to-tail wood core. This not only trims the weight and makes the ski more lively, but also eliminates the need for plastic panels—a small but positive environmental aspect. The 86 model also comes with elasticated, rubbery suspension elements on the edges of the tip and the tail, which act as a bumper in wind-blown or unfavorable snow conditions and not only offer more resistance to disruption but also deliver great flotation. The Blaze series is generally designed for fast, short turns. However, the three different radii, especially in combination with the full hybrid multilayer wood core, are designed for every riding style and can handle even the most ambitious use. From the all-mountain skier who wants to go off-piste, to the classic freerider or touring skier who will put up with an extra 100g of weight for significantly improved skiing performance, the Blaze 86 is a top recommendation! Thanks to its lightweight, the Blaze is also used as a freeride touring ski. To this end, Völkl also offers Smart Glue skins that have been perfectly tailored to each Blaze model. - 3D Radius Sidecut - Full Sidewall - Suspension Tips & Tails - Base: P-Tex 2100
