But we're always interested in hearing from qualified candidates! Those with the most promising applications will be contacted for interviews.
Sales - The most visible, public job at Ken's. Are you honest, hard-working and fun to talk to? Have you developed strong active listening skills and the drive to help our team succeed? Can you answer the phone, stock shelves and juggle numerous customers' requests -- with a smile -- all at the same time? Then you'll love this job and excel in it. We're looking for those who can represent this business and all three of 'our' sports with excitement - people who enjoy helping others get into cycling, skiing & snowboarding even more than they enjoy those sports themselves. Prefer full-time (~40 hrs/wk) candidates, but part-timers (20-30 hrs/wk) with strong qualifications may be considered.
Starting wage $12-17/hr DOE.
Bicycle Mechanic - This is where it began, with the Bike Surgeons way back in 1980. The foundation of Ken's business is taking great care of our clients' needs for safe, reliable, healthy and fun transportation / recreation aboard a well-running two-wheeled machine. As a bike mechanic, you'll spend your days with grease, cables, bearings, spokes and tires -- both assembling/tuning new bikes, and fixing/maintaining older ones. Experience & training in all aspects of bike assembly & repair, from wheel building to disc brakes to internal gearing, is very helpful -- but we will train a man or woman with outstanding aptitude & potential. Excellent client service skills, manual dexterity, phone manners, and team focus are all necessary to succeed in this fast-paced, challenging, creative and rewarding job. Full-time or part-time (minimum 24 hrs/wk).
Starting wage $12-16.00/hr DOE.
Ski/Snowboard Technician - This is a seasonal position (typically, November thru March) with flexible hours. Must be an avid (though need not be expert) snowboarder or skier with knowledge of varied on-snow conditions. Excellent client service skills, manual dexterity, phone manners, and team focus are all necessary to succeed in this fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding job. Experience in ski/board repair, tuning, waxing & binding mounting is very helpful but we can train candidates with outstanding aptitude and potential who meet the other qualifications. Full- or part-time schedules include evenings and weekends; each tech works a minimum of 24 hours per week during peak season (Nov. 20 - Feb. 20).
Starting wage $12-16/hr DOE.
Inventory - One of the unsung heroes of Ken's Bike-Ski-Board, the Inventory Tech works behind the scenes to make sure that the best and newest products are in the hands of our salespeople and technicians, so they in turn can meet our clients' needs. Daily responsiblities include receiving incoming shipments, unpacking, inputting, pricing and stocking merchandise, contacting vendors regarding discrepancies, and shipping out products sold online. Experience in receiving, pricing and stocking is very helpful -- but most important is integrity, accuracy, efficiency and the ability to work well alone and with others. Focus, attention to detail, computer literacy, excellent phone manners, and sufficient physical strength to lift and carry boxes up to 50# up or down stairs are all necessary for success in this job.
Starting wage $12-15/hr DOE.
Sales Manager - Do you have all of the qualifications for at least two or three of the jobs above? Plus experience managing employees and satisfying expectations of a diverse clientele? Love cycling and snowsports of all kinds? Are you available full-time, including most weekends and many evenings? Able to work in a fast-paced environment where no request is considered an interruption to your work? Mature, cool-headed and enjoy meshing with diverse personalities? Then you just might love this job.
Starting salary $2,750-3,250/mo DOE.
Service Manager - Do you possess the qualifications of a Bike Surgeons mechanic and/or a Ski/Board Technician (see above) and experience managing the work of others? Do you believe in cycling as transportation and recreation? Are you ready to work in a fast-paced environment -- building new bikes, fixing old ones, mounting bindings, tuning boards, finding solutions for clients and co-workers while training, scheduling, supervising and coaching other technicians? Mature, cool-headed, enjoy meshing with diverse personalities? Then you just might love this job.
Starting salary $2,750-3,250/mo DOE.
